In his final race in F1, Romain Grosjean suffered a frightening crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. The Frenchman’s Haas was broken into two and immediately caught fire after it crashed into the barrier at 220 km/h on the opening lap of the race. Grosjean escaped the fireball with no fractures, though he had suffered burns on his hands, a sprained left ankle, and bruising.

Despite a heart-stopping incident last year, Romain Grosjean didn’t quit motorsports and joined the American open-wheel racing series, IndyCar. And so far in his rookie season, the Frenchman has been immensely impressive.

Romain Grosjean, who finished in the top 5 on four occasions at the recently concluded IndyCar season, took to Twitter to show the condition of his left hand to his fans. Grosjean uploaded an image of the hand and wrote: “Flying hasn’t always been nice to my left hand but today I had a painless flight. And that feels good.”

I fell in love with IndyCar: Romain Grosjean

After being dropped by the Haas F1 team at the end of last year, Romain Grosjean joined Dale Coyne Racing to compete in IndyCar. And in his rookie season, Grosjean secured one pole position and three podiums.

“I fell in love with IndyCar. As a driver, I have a lot of freedom with my driving style and can be competitive in any team,” said the 35-year-old.

In addition, Grosjean, who will leave Dale Coyne Racing to join Andretti Autosport to replace Ryan Hunter-Reay, says he is proud to join such a famous name.

“I’m delighted to be joining Andretti Autosport and driving the No 28 DHL Honda for next season,” said the former Haas driver.

“It’s a big honor to be joining such a great team as Andretti. Anyone in the motorsport world knows the name Andretti. I’m super happy and proud to be racing with the team,” concluded Grosjean.
