“Ruined My Race”: Lando Norris “Not Happy” About Zak Brown’s Favorite Boy Oscar Piastri After Hitting Rock Bottom

After Lando Norris made contact with the wall in Q1 and bowed out after taking damage to his front left tire, the responsibility of delivering a good result fell on rookie Oscar Piastri’s shoulders. The former F2 champion made the most of the opportunity and drove the team into Q3 with a struggling car. The Aussie driver, however, failed to build on the P8 starting position as a chaotic start saw him take damage. Moreover, his first lap incident possibly compromised any good result Lando could have achieved.
Piastri’s arrival at McLaren in itself was nothing short of a great saga. From a legal battle to a multi-million dollar lawsuit threat, the drama had it all. However, McLaren CEO Zak Brown had his eyes on his man and he wanted him at any cost. Netflix’s F1 docuseries Drive to Survive even showed how involved Brown was in the entire process. However, this newfound love for Oscar is probably not something that Norris is taking too well to.

Speaking after the race in Jeddah, Lando told, “It was a really good start, I just got all the damage from, I think Oscar and Ocon came together and all of their debris hit my car and it ruined my race. So, I had to do a nose box change, broke my front wing but it just kind of ruined the rest of it.”
Norris, towards the end, had a sort of drag race with Logan Sargeant to the finish line. The Briton came out second best in that battle but felt he could have caught him had it not been for Oscar.
Lando Norris talks about the battle with Sargeant and his thoughts about the race
Oscar (P16) was leading Lando when the duo came wheel to wheel on a couple of occasions on Lap 45. However, Norris could not overtake his teammate. On the final lap, they both began hunting Logan Sargeant down in P15. Oscar managed to get past Logan but the American rookie held his nerve against the senior McLaren driver.
