Russian GP Rains: Mercedes & Co. Fool Around Amidst F1 Practice Cancellation

If Spa taught us anything, it’s that the drivers have a lot of fun in the garage when it’s pouring outside. As all Russian GP runnings before the qualifying get canceled, drivers and the teams keep themselves busy in the rain. Spa gave us naps, football matches, and Mexican waves. What does Sochi have in store for us?

The heavy rainfall at the circuit delayed the junior series events as well; the track conditions are currently dire. Nonetheless, it’s a good time to be on Twitter! the F1 teams and the drivers continue to entertain us with their antics despite the gloomy weather at Sochi.

What the teams are up to ahead of the Russian GP

Aston Martin made a bold move and sent their car out in the rain! Or at least tried to. The team played around with a toy Aston Martin car in the garage; spending their free time perfecting that pit exit.

Further Haas and Aston Martin wanted a Spa rematch between Vettel and Schumacher. While the timings of the said match haven’t been fixed yet, it won’t be long!

McLaren, on the other hand, called on to the stewards. The team participated in what seems to be an intense UNO game. A three-place grid penalty for the Papaya team?

Ferrari seems to have a mini rager at their garage as DJ Charles Leclerc takes over the speakers. On the other hand, Sergio Perez takes inspiration from the McLaren drivers and turns to table tennis; only without a table?

Drivers having fun at Sochi

Championship contender Lewis Hamilton is making the most of his time at Sochi! After a relaxing acupuncture session, Hamilton skedaddled out in the rain for a very Hollywood-esque moment. Netflix might as well have a separate series on rain-delayed events!

His teammate, on the other hand, sips his favorite drink. Valtteri Bottas looks snug in the Mercedes garage sipping on his coffee. The team has kept us updated through each cup; it’s going to be one very caffeinated Finn at the qualifying today. Extra speed doesn’t hurt, now does it?

At AlphaTauri, however, Pierre Gasly auditioned for the NBA. The Frenchman spent his time hooping with a mini basketball. Pierre Gasly from way downtown!

At Williams, Nicholas Latifi discussed his love for Nutella and other very important questions as he took over the team’s Twitter.

Consistent on and off the track, Lando Norris stuck true to his Spa-self. Cuddled under towels, it’s no doubt Norris took a long nap to prepare for his qualifying session.

The grid continues to make the most of the downpour. However, it may be time to wrap up as the skies start to clear. Although there is a forecast of more rain, it shouldn’t impede the session. No one wants Spa 2.0!
