With Mercedes having dominated the sport for most of the last decade, the general grievance from F1 fans is that the sport has turned boring. However, with the new regulations and the freezing of car development coming in next year, things just might spice up.

Lewis Hamilton thinks that the FIA is doing its best to keep the excitement levels up. But he meant it more as a reaction to the harsh penalty call against him.
According to the 6-time World Champion, when a team is that far ahead of its competitors, the FIA will try its level best to ensure that even the smallest of rules aren’t infringed upon. And if they are, a big penalty is to be expected.
In the post-race press conference, Hamilton said, “Whenever a team is at the front, obviously they are doing a lot of scrutiny. Everything is being checked and triple checked and triple checked.
“They are changing rules, such as the engine regs, lots of things to get in the way to keep racing exciting. I don’t know if the rules – in terms of what happened today – was anything to do with it. But naturally, that’s how it feels.”

The Mercedes driver said that he wants to tread with caution. He doesn’t want to fall foul of any rules. And thus wants to go over the rulebook with his team to be assured.
Hamilton said, “It’s not like we haven’t faced adversity before. So we just keep our heads down. Keep trying to do a better job and be cleaner and squeaky clean.
“I guess we’ll go through the rule book. Pick out areas where they can create rules, areas where penalties have never been given before. We’ll try to figure out all the ones they have and try to make sure that we cover ourselves in the ones that we are aware of.”
Finishing P3 in Sochi is not good enough for someone like Hamilton. He’ll be looking to bounce back in Germany on the 11th of October.
At the Nurburgring, Hamilton will have a chance to equal yet another record. The record for the most Grand Prix wins set by Michael Schumacher. Can Hamilton score his 91st race win at the home of the German legend?
