Romain Grosjean Fumes as Charles Leclerc Cheekily Mocks Him During Free Practice

Competitiveness is something everyone is familiar with in Formula 1. The grueling races are the factors that enhance the sport and make it interesting for the viewers. However, the competitiveness at times leads to some complicated situations between racers.
At times the brawl is bad enough to ruin relationships, while on race crashes are altogether another nightmare which follows. Charles Leclerc and Romain Grosjean were involved in a similar situation recently. However, it never went beyond an exchange of words.
Following a week off, Formula 1 resumed action with the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. During the first free practice session, Leclerc and Grosjean got into a competitive gear, and both the racers were down to criticizing each other.

“I think Romain thought it was a race,” Leclerc was heard. While Leclerc took a light jab on the Haas driver, Romain Grosjean was not short of offering his complete disappointment on the Ferrari racer.
“What the f*** was he doing over there?” Grosjean exclaimed.
Charles Leclerc shines for Ferrari in the practice session
Keeping the small patch of rough between Leclerc and Grosjean aside, Ferrari put up a decent display in the practice sessions. While Vettel notched the 9th position in the grid, Leclerc was close by in the 11th spot. Grosjean was trailing far behind in the 18th spot.

The second practice session was a role reversal in the Ferrari unit. Charles Leclerc emerged faster than the German. He was able to claim the P8 position, while Sebastian Vettel was in P10. Grosjean, on the other hand, slipped further down the order to find himself in the 20th spot.

The duo’s Top-10 finish means some real progress for the Prancing Stallions. Considering their shambolic performance in the first half of the F1 season, they showed some real intent coming into the Russian circuit. The second half of the season seems to be starting off pretty well for the Italian side.

While the power unit issue bugged the team no end, the minor aerodynamic change seems to be working fine. Hopefully, they’ll be able to hold on to their performances in the qualifiers and the main race.
It’s been a long time since Ferrari has stepped on the podium and Russia seems to be a perfect place to turn their fortunes around.
