Sebastian Vettel has lost his faith in Ferrari, says Jolyon Palmer
BBC columnist Jolyon Palmer recently highlighted the nuances from Vettel’s performance at Sochi and its implications to the team. Palmer had been with Renault back in 2017 and holds a valuable opinion from the team’s perspective. His column regarding Sochi’s race brings to our notice the minute details that hint at the German’s lack of motivation.
“Vettel had another weekend to forget. He crashed in qualifying while trying to make up a 0.4-second deficit to Leclerc, and then never made an impact in the grand prix after a long first stint.

Palmer is sure that Racing Point will rouse the champion in Vettel
Sebastian Vettel is drudging through his penultimate season with the Prancing Stallion; for he is slated to join the ranks of the Aston Martin come 2021.
Even Palmer believes that it was necessary to bring back inspiration in the racer. “He [Vettel] is debating and often overriding some of their in-race calls.
“But more importantly, he seems to have lost his usual mojo for racing and performance. It almost looks as if he is seeing out this year in a holding pattern.

“I’m sure a fresh challenge at Aston Martin will reinvigorate Vettel and he probably can’t wait for it to come around already,” remarked Palmer.
Ferrari expressed their reluctance to renew the German’s contract early this year, and Lawrence Stroll and the company wasted no time in poaching his services. Although this development came at the cost of a healthy relationship between the team and Sergio Perez.
