Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz have shared an incredible coincidence in terms of their F1 journeys. Both drivers have traversed paths at similar teams, except, of course, the fact that Alonso has two championships to his name.
But that said, Sainz is still 26 and his best years of F1 racing are yet to come. Though he idolizes the 39-year-old, he will look to chart a title run and do it his own way as compared to following in Alonso’s footsteps.

Sainz said, “First of all, it’s tricky because I’ve already been at Renault but I didn’t get the two world championships.”
Feel ready for the challenge of fighting for a world championship, expressed Sainz
“But what I know is that one day I want to fight for a world championship and I want to get myself into that position as quickly as possible and as early as possible, because I feel ready for the challenge.”
Alonso, by virtue of his race and title wins, has a vault of experience that few active on the grid possess. But Sainz feels that he is best served focusing on building his own career’s blocks than attempting to necessarily emulate his fellow Spaniard.

Sainz continued, “He’s been an extremely strong driver but there’s never going to be another Fernando Alonso, he was the first one, the pioneer in many ways, and I’m just trying to do my own career, my own way of doing things, of seeing things, of driving and I’ll see where that gets me.”

“But apart from those coincidences, I don’t see anything to reflect. I want to do it my own way and see where it can get me,” concluded the Ferrari driver.

Returning with Alpine with a sense of purpose, Alonso clearly has some unfinished business in the sport. He will prove to be an instrumental cog in the wheel of the team’s operations as they attempt to clinch a P3 this time around.
Alonso will, hence, find himself competing against Sainz quite frequently, given the present stature of their respective teams. So, if the past is any evidence, we could well see the two Spaniards closely battling it out very soon on the track.
