Sauber Prepared To Advance Kimi Raikkonen’s Motorsport Career After F1 Retirement

Kimi Raikkonen retired from Formula One at the end of the 2021 season. The Finn finally hung up his gloves after two decades in the sport. He has a world championship and 21 race wins to his name. Raikkonen was a fan-favorite who was never afraid to speak his mind in the media.
He had previously left the sport for two years after the end of the 2009 season to explore other categories of motorsport. Alfa Romeo team boss Fred Vasseur mentioned the Sauber group will support the former world champion if he competes in other categories like LeMans or Formula E.

If he wanted to do something else, I could help: Vasseur on Kimi Raikkonen
Vasseur mentioned that the Swiss team is involved in other categories of motorsports as well. If Kimi expressed his willingness, the group would help the Finn in other series of racing.
“I told him if he wanted to do something else, I could help. Even the Sauber Group would be very happy to support and find other projects. Because they’re almost everywhere now, they’re also in Le Mans and Formula E,” revealed Fred.

But he mentioned that Raikkonen refused the offer, as he does not want to race right now. ‘But Kimi said ‘No, I prefer to leave the races in the short term. Then, maybe six or eight months later, I would like to do something else.
I don’t know, I think he deserves a listen right now. I honestly think he had a pretty good approach. He was always very clear with us. That’s very important to me,” said Vasseur.

Well, it would be nice to see Raikkonen back into the world of motorsports in some form. He remains one of the most iconic drivers in the sport’s history and a valuable entity in F1.
