Saudi Arabia “Won’t Say No” to the Idea of Hosting Two F1 Races in the Future After This Year’s Epic Battle Between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc

The FIA might only have hosted the F1 race in Saudi Arabia only a couple of times, but the country is already building a new track at Qiddiya, near Riyadh.
The race at Jeddah is one of the few night races on the calendar. Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s minister for sport HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal has expressed an ambitious new prospect.

Lewis Hamilton beat Max Verstappen to clinch the maiden Saudi Arabian GP under the lights last year. Whereas Verstappen emerged victorious in an epic battle with Charles Leclerc to get his first race win of this season. The Jeddah circuit is one of the fastest street circuits on the grid. However, an intriguing idea of hosting a second Grand Prix in the country has been put forward by HRH.
Prince Abdulaziz said, “We won’t say no. We really see the benefits of having these events for the Kingdom, and that’s why we’re investing so much.”
Furthermore, he added, “We definitely could host two races already for that. But I think that’s something that we have to discuss with F1 and see how it goes. But we definitely would love to have that.”
The Saudi government has made huge investments in the Jeddah circuit and will hope to keep it running. Moreover, they now have an all-new venue for the drivers to potentially experience.

The F1 race in Qiddiya will offer a completely different experience from the one in Jeddah, according to Prince Abdulaziz. the circuit will host the country’s first MotoGP race.

He further added, “We think it’s a good transition [from Jeddah], because it’s a totally different environment. So you won’t have two races that are the same in one region: in Jeddah, it’s by the sea. But when you go to the other, it is the desert, it’s more of a different vibe to it.”

F1 is to host 3 races in the gulf this season (in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi). The Qiddiya circuit is expected to open in 2026.
