Max Verstappen and Red Bull have been absolutely dominant on the racetrack this year. Apart from the early season challenge from Ferrari, they have cruised to a championship double and dethroned Mercedes’ 8-year reign at the top. However, they have also been involved in multiple controversies on and off the track. The most recent one being the incident involving Sky F1.

Max Verstappen secured his record-breaking 14th win of the season in Mexico. The Dutchman now stands alone in the history books, for most race wins in a calendar year. However, the Red Bull driver did not give an interview to Sky F1 after reporter Ted Kravitz’s comments in the US GP.

Post Kravitz’s comments, Red Bull and Max Verstappen denied giving interviews to Sky F1 and its subsidiaries. The Dutchman boycotted them for any interview all weekend long in Mexico.

However, their decision to boycott the Sky media seems to have backfired after several journalists around the world showed their support for Ted Kravitz. Martin Brundle also issued a statement pledging his full support for his colleague. Moreover, a column in The Times written by Matthew Syed has called out Christian Horner and RBR’s boycott of Sky Sports.

Furthermore, Syed also bashed the Red Bull boss for using “bullying and mental health to deflect from his own rule-breaking” in his article.

Moreover, Team LH44 vs. MV1 fans erupted in a war of words on Twitter. While LH44 fans defended Ted for his ‘rightful’ comments, Verstappen fans called out the British media for not respecting the reigning world champion.

Max Verstappen might be the reigning world champion, but his snubbing of Sky Sports for interviews in Mexico did not go down well with Hamilton supporters. Furthermore, they also called out Red Bull boss Christian Horner for using mental health as leverage to escape his ‘cheating’ argument.

As a counter, Red Bull fans argued that The Times reporter was trying to gain the support of Hamilton’s fanbase. Subsequently, both sets of fans defended their stance online.
