Sebastian Vettel will be back behind the wheel

Sebastian Vettel sat out the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix because of Covid-19. He contracted the virus after the Bahrain Official Pre-Season testing. Because of this, Aston Martin called upon their reserve driver, Nico Hulkenberg, to replace Vettel.

With almost an entire month absent from the racing scenario, Vettel must be excited to get behind the car and start racing. Lucky for him, he will not be driving an entirely new machine thanks to the pre-season testing. But even then he will still face a difficult learning curve.

Vettel admits it feels like turning up to school late. To elaborate, he said, “After testing positive and missing the first two races, it feels a bit like arriving late to school, so I’m really keen to get going again.”

Vettel is comparatively less prepared than the other drivers, so the coming practice session is an important one for the German. Speaking further on the challenge of the Australian Grand Prix, “Starting my season in Australia is something I’ve done before, of course, and it’s also great that Formula 1 is returning after a difficult couple of years.” said Vettel.

How the season has been for Aston Martin so far?

Aston Martin in the first two races has performed below par. They’re the only other team apart from Williams to not score any points, so far. Keeping that in mind, Vettel is an Australian GP savant. He’s won the race 3 times in the past. And Aston Martin is looking to use his experience on the track this weekend.

This has excited many people, including Vettel’s teammate Lance Stroll, who is extremely excited to be back in Melbourne for the race.
