The 2021 F1 season ended with Red Bull winning their first title since 2013. The last world champion with Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel, finished 12th in the drivers’ standings this season with the Aston Martin team. Vettel left Ferrari at the end of the 2020 F1 season to join the Silverstone-based team.

The German is one of the most loved drivers in F1 because of his human qualities and on-track heroics. Even though many believe that Vettel’s best racing days are behind him now, his experience makes him one of the most lethal drivers on the grid. He bagged a much-deserved P2 in Baku along with many points finishes this season.

Sebastian Vettel shares a good relationship with Stroll

The Aston Martin team will go ahead with the same driver line-up for the 2022 season as well. Vettel shares the seat with Lance Stroll, son of team owner Lawrence Stroll. The Canadian has put up some impressive performances for the erstwhile Racing Point team in the past three seasons.

In the latest interview with Blick, Vettel shared candid thoughts about his relationship with his teammate. When asked if he had any problems with the 23-year-old as his father owns the team, Vettel answered in disagreement.

“There is a great atmosphere of optimism. I like that and I also enjoy driving on. New things have always motivated me,” added the four-time world champ.

The German was with the Red Team for six seasons between 2015-20. He finished second behind Lewis Hamilton in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. However, the much-expected title did not come with the Italian team for Sebastian Vettel.

When he was asked about the drastic change of teams and how he is taking it, Vettel had an optimistic answer to it. “Well, my departure from Ferrari may have been a little weird. In that regard, I am happier now than I was before. But I never want to miss my time at Ferrari,” said Vettel as reported by Blick.

“Even if my planned great successes did not materialize there. We wanted to be world champions,” he added.

Notably, Vettel won the Crypto.com Overtake Award for most overtakes this season. However, the fans want to see him gunning for championships again. With new regulations in place, he would hope to take a big step forward in the next F1 season.
