Sebastian Vettel Deemed Unfit to Make Red Bull Return in F1 Management Role: “He’s a Little Bit of a…”

Delivering 4 back-to-back world championship titles, Sebastian Vettel will forever be Red Bull’s darling. As the German driver retired at the end of last season, many rooted for him to make a comeback in the team soon in a management role. While fans would love to see him around in any capacity, Red Bull boss Christian Horner ruled any such possibility out.
Over his long career in F1, Vettel created quite a fanbase for himself. It was not just his racing prowess that got him all the fame, but also his commitment to various social issues. While it is difficult for some to imagine the sport without his presence, old-time rival Lewis Hamilton felt he will be back on the track in no time. While for now, that seems like a distant possibility, a management role seems more likely. Christian Horner does not think that could happen either.

When asked whether he sees Seb make a comeback in a managing capacity at Red Bull in an interview with ams.F1, Horner replied, “I don’t think so. I can’t see Seb doing a nine-to-five job or moving to the UK and I think there’s so many other things in his life that he wants to do and achieve with his family. He’s a little bit of a free spirit and he has many projects that he’s hugely passionate about. So, I think there’s certain things in Formula 1 other than the driving that obviously felt conflicted about.”
“So maybe to Formula 1 as the environmental adviser, that might be something that he can take and use his passion. But I think in the day-to-day operation of a team, I’d be very surprised if he were to get involved in that.”
Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher is more in Lewis Hamilton’s camp. He too thinks Seb could return to F1 racing soon.
Ralf Schumacher backs Sebastian Vettel to make a comeback
Seb got fans emotional as he did burnouts on the track for the last time in Abu Dhabi last year. While he could not achieve much during his stint with Aston Martin, there were certainly no doubts about his racing capabilities. That, and his experience, makes Ralf believe, is perfect to conjure a comeback for his fellow German.

The Sky Germany expert, as quoted by Speedweek, said, “Sebastian’s comeback in Formula 1 cannot be ruled out. In Formula 1 there are many factors that lead to being fast. One of them is experience. New drivers take a long time to get to the level of Sebastian Vettel.” [Translated using Google]

“Accordingly, with his vast experience, Sebastian already has the chance to come back in a year or two and be among the front runners. Maybe after a year or two with the family he will have the strength to start a comeback.”
