Sebastian Vettel’s race did not go the way he would have wanted as the German ended his home race outside the points. During the post-race interview, Vettel revealed the main reason behind yet another embarrassing spin during the race.

Vettel managed to finish in P11 at the Nurburgring circuit as he struggled to get past Antonio Giovinazzi’s Alfa Romeo for a number of laps. Early on in the race, while trying to make a move on Giovinazzi, the German ended up spinning before Turn 1 and flat-spotted his tires in the process.

Vettel opened up about the spin after the race. “Yeah, it was probably a little bit slippery, but crossing behind the car in front, I lost control. Yeah, I was lucky to carry on, but obviously, the race could’ve been different without that.”

The interviewer questioned Vettel if he was inside the Top-10 during the race. “[We were] inside [top 10] for the whole race, but we didn’t get it,” Vettel said.

As far as his failure to breach the points’ tally was concerned, Vettel was quite clear, “In the end, I struggled to overtake. It was really difficult once I was close to gain speed on the other cars down the straights. So yeah it was a difficult one for us today.”

The Eifel Grand Prix marked the sixth GP where Vettel failed to finish in the points. This is also the second straight race for the German, where he ended up outside the Top-10 as the misery seems to be a never-ending phenomenon in the German’s life.

But on the other side of Ferrari’s garage, Charles Leclerc managed to bring his car home with a handful of points despite the power disadvantage. He put in a tremendous lap to line up fourth on the grid.

But the lack of pace in the Ferrari made sure that he does not keep that place till the end; therefore, he could only manage a P7 for the team which was still an appreciable performance by the young Monegasque.

Overall, Leclerc is still hanging in the Top-10 by having scored points occasionally. With the 6 points that he scored today, his tally has now gone up to 63 points.

Vettel is lingering in P13 at the moment, having scored a measly 17 points over the course of this entire season. Keeping such dissatisfying performances in mind, he will be aching for this season to end to move to Aston Martin/Racing Point as soon as possible.
