Sebastian Vettel has come under a lot of fire in the past few seasons. After four successful years at Red Bull, he moved to Ferrari to take on a new challenge. Sadly, he has failed to win a title with Scuderia in the last 4 years. Things appeared alright as long as Kimi Raikkonen was on the team and played second fiddle without question.

However, the dynamic changed in an instant when Charles Leclerc stepped into the car. Straight away, he became a huge threat to Vettel’s numero uno status. Suffice to say, Sebastian Vettel clearly got rattled and the mistakes began to creep in more frequently. Of course, the critics smelt blood and pounced on Vettel straight off the bat.

Many got the impression that the German driver is rapidly losing motivation and is no longer hungry for titles. However, Vettel recently stated to the media that his motivation is as high as ever.

He said, “I still love driving, and I’m here to win. I joined Ferrari to win the championship and we haven’t done so so far. But the determination is there.”

Is 2020 the year of redemption for Sebastian Vettel?

Admittedly, Sebastian Vettel is still on the hunt for a new contract. However, latest reports suggest that he and team principal Mattia Binotto will sit down and discuss the terms and conditions. Hopefully he can regain his mojo in 2020 and re-establish himself as the alpha dog. It will also serve as a massive confidence boost.

So, can Scuderia Ferrari challenge Mercedes and their new weapon, the Dual Axis Steering system? Can Sebastian Vettel really step into the role of a leader and show Charles Leclerc his place? Or will the Monegasque youngster dictate the terms and usurp him as the new alpha male. These questions will only be answered when the 2020 season begins.
