Sebastian Vettel Left Dodging Police Bikes Because of Aston Martin Successor Fernando Alonso

Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement at the end of this calendar year. Like many fans around the world, F1’s paddock will miss having a personality like Vettel around. Known for his bold stance and notoriously witty nature, the 4-time world champion is a known prankster on the grid. In a recent event involving the police, Vettel joked about how he got the better of a former world champion.
In the video posted by a fan account on Twitter, Sebastian Vettel describes how a few police officers this morning pushed him aside to let Fernando Alonso pass. He said,

“I was coming down the hill with the bicycle and then there was, four police bikes pushing and shouting me out of the way, and there was a Renault driven by Fernando and then another two police bikes pushing me out of the way again.”
Vettel asked the host to remind Alonso “maybe you can tell him that”. The host obliged, ensuring she will ask him when he comes on to the stage later.
Vettel cheekily added, “I passed him back,” taking a sly dig at the former 2-time world champion. It is hard to imagine for fans that Vettel will not be with us next year, cracking jokes and riding his bicycle to the race tracks.

Alonso replied to this comment stating, “Well he was in the middle,” as he laughed. “He was very very slow, he was uphill, so I think he needs a e-bike at the moment,”

Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel have a combined 6 world championships together. Naturally, there is a lot of respect between the two. Speaking about Vettel’s retirement, Alonso said he will be a big miss for F1. The Alpine driver was asked about his ‘rival’ Vettel’s retirement, having fought some great battles with him over the years.

Alonso said, “Sad news, obviously, we will miss him. I think he’s a legend of our sport, not only on track but also, great values outside the car, so we will miss him.”

Fernando and Vettel will both be hoping for a strong second half of the season. Alonso is currently 10th in the driver’s standing. Meanwhile, Vettel has only scored 16 points all season and will be looking to add a few more points before he eventually signs off.
