The woke culture in the modern era may have its critics. Although, in the sporting world, and especially in F1, our drivers portray this culture quite well and appropriately. Standing up for crucial issues in the world related to discrimination, human rights, and the environment has become normal. Although, with the FIA’s latest political and personal comments restriction, drivers like Lewis Hamilton may not be able to stay outspoken and take stances. Lewis’s friend Sebastian Vettel is probably regretting leaving the Briton alone amid this chaos of restrictions unfolding in F1.

In an exclusive interview with Auto Bild.de, Vettel cited his relief and concern about this political ruling from the FIA. Seb mentioned how he feels relieved this rule may not affect him anymore. Meanwhile, he also stated how he is concerned about his colleagues like Lewis, who may not be able to take important stances anymore.

The German driver mentioned how it is vital to take stances against important issues. As they are famous athletes, their voice of opinion can perhaps make a difference in the world. Even in the last few years, many drivers have resorted to speaking up against certain issues. Therefore, Seb feels it doesn’t make sense to steer against this trend now.

Lewis Hamilton may continue his outspoken nature, considering that he has spoken with the FIA president on this issue. Even Toto Wolff cited how they should wait and see how this ruling pans out. Regardless, after the kind of reception Vettel and Hamilton have got from the FIA in recent years about wearing T-shirts and taking stances, it will be interesting to watch their reaction this season.
