Vettel to Mercedes on the cards?

According to a report by Motorsport.com, it has been suggested that Vettel would prefer a move to the Brackley-based outfit, should negotiations with Lewis Hamilton prove to be unsuccessful.

Although highly unlikely, the duration of the contract with Mercedes remains clouded in mystery and intrigue. Another factor said to be influencing Hamilton’s decision is Toto Wolff’s future at the helm of the Silver Arrows.

Regardless, if this labyrinth of complexities does indeed go through, Vettel could move to Mercedes. However, even if the Hamilton situation is tied and locked up, Vettel’s move to Racing Point seems unlikely.

Hamilton Not Worried About Future

Lewis Hamilton hinted on his desire to continue racing with Mercedes and that he was ‘super-excited’ to remain with the team. He was previously quoted as saying, “The fact is I do want to continue with the team and it’s not a big effort for us to sit down and get it done. It’s just right now I don’t feel comfortable with it, and so we’ll wait a little bit longer.”

So all in all, it certainly is intriguing and exciting in equal measure to think about on all fronts. At the moment, logic dictates that Sebastian Vettel takes a sabbatical and Hamilton renews his contract with Mercedes.

But as with most things in Formula One, businesses can take a dramatic turn at any point in time.
