Sebastian Vettel finally secured a podium at the Turkish Grand Prix. Until Imola, Vettel has had a forgetful season with Ferrari. He came close to a podium at Imola, but a 13.5-second pit stop took that away.
He finally stepped on a podium at Istanbul. He overtook Charles Leclerc with just 2 corners to go to finish P3. Vettel has won 4 World Championships driving for Red Bull. He will move to Racing Point/Aston Martin come 2021 in the hopes of improving that stat.
In a recent interview, the German was asked about the possibility of his retirement. He replied, “I’m 33 now, at 40 I don’t want to drive anymore. So anything between three and seven years could be realistic.”
Sebastian Vettel also talked about his karting days. He said, “Even back then I wanted to be faster than the others, and I got really excited when that didn’t work, as it still upsets me today.
“When I finished high school I wondered what do you want to be? I thought in the direction of mechanical engineering because I’ve always been interested in numbers, physics, how things work, how things are structured.
“But to be honest, I wasn’t as ambitious as when I was racing,” he further added.
Sebastian Vettel moved from Red Bull to Ferrari in 2015. The move was to realize his dream of winning a World Championship with the Scuderia.
However, after a few tough seasons with the Prancing Stallion, the German was forced to jump ship to Racing Point/ Aston Martin, who were delighted at the prospect of hosting a 4-time World Champion next season.
He displayed his racecraft at the Turkish Grand Prix. He stated he will throw himself into the Aston Martin project as soon as the season gets over. According to Vettel, it is essential to get to know the team and understand the car thoroughly.
Vettel will look to drive to a few more good finishes. Hopefully, he will take the momentum to the next season. Aston Martin will also look forward to having the experienced German on their team. The team will take the fight to top teams and continuously fight for the podium next season.
