Kimi Raikkonen’s retirement has brought the spotlight back to the driver market. While the obvious speculations and extensions take place, Sebastian Vettel remains unsure. A driver whose name has steered clear of the silly season drama, why is Vettel unsure about his 2022 season?

Seb didn’t explicitly confirm his future with Aston Martin when asked about it. He dubiously replied, “I think so.” Aston Martin is yet to confirm its driver lineup for the season, but wouldn’t Vettel be the obvious choice?

Has the German run out of patience for F1?

Unlikely outcome for Sebastian Vettel

The four-time world champion has had a decent debut season with Aston Martin. Two podiums (although one was taken away) and a lot of top 10 appearances are impressive after shifting teams. However, an attempt to make it to the midfield battle is not something Sebastian is used to.

Schumacher tried to explain Vettel’s psyche. “I think he’s just in the process of finding it. Does he still want to do that to himself or does he not want to?”

Vettel‘s retirement from the sport seems highly unlikely; the champion still has much to give. Schumacher concluded that the answer to Seb’s dilemma lies with the driver himself.

“He has to decide that for himself. I think that’s why he hesitates and quarrels a bit. That is his personal decision. Do I prefer to be with the children or do I go full throttle again?”

It won’t be long before teams lock in on their driver lineups. While it is doubtful we won’t see Vettel next season, one hopes he finds the speed he is looking for, resulting in a happy German in the Aston Martin monocoque.
