After a horror season with Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel moved to Aston Martin this season. The German hopes to get back to his form and Aston Martin have placed their trust in the former world champion to help anchor a successful comeback to the sport. However, Vettel’s time at Aston Martin did not kick-off as planned. The team struggled through the pre-season testing at Bahrain.

In a recent interview, Ted Kravitz, an F1 reporter, shared that Vettel was not happy with the testing weekend.

“He was happy to talk. He got a little bit more annoyed as the three days went on because more things started failing on the car. But once he gets to a race, he will be invigorated and I hope he’ll be the new Seb again, I kind of miss that guy,” shared Kravitz.

Sebastian Vettel and Aston Martin, slowest in testing

Sebastian Vettel completed a very minimal number of laps during the testing weekend. The German completed 117 laps, only ahead of Williams‘ test driver, Roy Nissany, who completed 83 laps. Ted Kravitz hopes that this will change once the season begins and we will get to see the old Sebastian.

“The lap times weren’t spectacular from testing at all. In fact, with the limited runnings over the unreliability that crept into their program, they were sort of down towards the end, by the end of the day.”

“They had the two of the slowest times, Vettel and Stroll with a 1:35:00 and a 1:36:01, which was just the last day,” said the reporter.

Sebastian Vettel acknowledged he fell about a hundred laps behind and would like to get more mileage. However, the German did not blame Mercedes for Aston Martin’s engine troubles. He is also certain that the Brackley squad will make a strong comeback once the season kicks off.

Do you believe Aston Martin will sort out their issues and we will get to see the old Sebastian this season?
