Sebastian Vettel is once again driving a Red Bull in Formula One, well, sort of. With the new upgrade package brought in by Aston Martin ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, their 2022 challenger looks remarkably similar to the Red Bull RB18.

The similarities between the concept of both cars in Barcelona have caught the eyes of the fan who have claimed that the Aston Martin is the “Green Red Bull”. They took to social media to post about how Vettel in 2018 had mentioned that he prefers Red Bull over others.

But in the video, the former Ferrari driver was refusing the Monster Energy Drink from Lewis Hamilton. He replied by stating,” I would much rather have Red Bull”.

But the 4-time world champion defended his current team against the claims that they have copied the sidepods design of the Austrian team.

Sebastian Vettel defends Aston Martin’s new upgrade amidst comparisons with Red Bull

The Aston Martin driver mentioned that the new B-Spec is indeed different-looking from the original concept. He reaffirmed that he and the team believe in the new concept and is the right direction for them.

“We know that it’s a very different-looking car. We’ve had a big push in the factory to make the bits for two cars. It will be very interesting to see how it behaves on track. That’s what we’re looking forward to, [we’re] very curious to see the performance,” said Sebastian.

“We don’t expect a massive jump straight away, but we do believe in the concept and we believe there is more performance to gain down that route. It will be very interesting to get a feel and get my hands on it,” said the Aston Martin driver.

Surely Sebastian would have wanted another shot at driving Red Bull, but not quite like this. Apart from all fun and games, it would be interesting to see how the new upgrades work in proper races and qualifying.

The new side pods and the upgrades should get them closer to the midfield and away from the back of the grid. The team would hope that they can fight for points more often from now on until the end of the season.
