What was supposed to be a breakthrough year for Ferrari didn’t turn out to be one. After debuting brilliantly in Bahrain, the Italian stable could only manage to keep P2 both in driver’s and constructors’ championships. As the year was full of disappointment and strategic failures, the Italian team boss decided it was time for him to leave the Maranello-based team.

Leclerc, who once had strong bonds with Binotto, bid farewell to the boss. Although recent reports suggest the Monegasque was not on good terms with the 53-year-old, his recent social media activity says otherwise.

Leclerc took to Instagram to share departing words with his boss. He wrote, “Thanks for everything, Matthias. We spent four very intense years together, of great satisfaction and also, inevitably, of moments that put us to the test. My esteem and respect for you have never failed, and we have always worked with all the dedication to achieve the same goals. Good luck for everything.”
