If F1 rumors were given any importance, this weekend would have seen the confirmation of a deal between Sebastian Vettel and Racing Point. However, it looks like the rumors are set to disappear as quickly as they cropped up. Sergio Perez, the man whose F1 seat is allegedly at risk, dismissed rumors with a bold revelation.

Perez may have won the battle against COVID-19, but he’s yet to deal with a ruthless barrage of questions at every race weekend.

Ever since the media caught a whiff of talks between Vettel and Aston Martin, they have directed all sorts of questions at him.

Sergio Perez isn’t talking to any other F1 teams

Credit to the Mexican, he’s been relatively calm and nonchalant about the entire affair. Perez has consistently maintained and reiterated that the team isn’t looking for a change next year.

Nothing new here, except the Mexican also made it public that he wasn’t with talks with other F1 teams for 2021.

“All the feedback that I get, it’s really positive,” Perez said. “So I stay with that, and that’s where my confidence comes from, and where we stay calm.

“It’s a situation that is out of my hands, so I don’t even bother at all. I focus on racing, enjoy it, and whatever happens, it’s out of my hands, so I don’t even give attention to it.”

“No,” asserted Perez, when quizzed about holding talks with other teams. “The feedback that I get from within the team is that we all want to continue.”

There were reports of Perez reportedly edging towards a move to Alfa Romeo if talks with Racing Point were to fall through. As we know now, Perez is more than confident of keeping his prized drive over the course of the next season.

“We don’t see the reason why we should change anything. [I] don’t see any reason to change. I think we are enjoying a great season on-track, and things are working really well in the team. I don’t expect any change.”

If Perez’s remarks are the absolute truth, Sebastian Vettel is out of options for 2021. The German’s made it clear that he’s interested in ‘winning’. And he may just have lost the only seat that could have helped him materialize that dream.
