Sergio Perez is a very renowned Formula 1 driver in the world. One of the most popular athletes in his country, Checo, revealed his alternate career options if he wouldn’t have been a part of the sport of speed. In a country that is famous for its soccer, the Red Bull driver would have had an adrenaline-producing corporate job instead.

Talking about this, Perez revealed in a report published by Red Bull Bulletin, “I would like to have been a banker or a lawyer. I think they share the adrenaline that we live every day, and I quite like adrenaline. I think those jobs really give you that adrenaline.”

But it would have to be something related to sport, you know, probably as a lawyer that helps sportsmen get their contracts done, or a kind of manager,” further stated the former Force India driver who indulged himself in the 250 miles per hour racing.

Perez began racing aged 6. After years of excellence in Formula BMW, Formula 3, and GP2, he debuted in Formula 1 with Sauber after replacing Nick Heidfeld in 2011. From there on he raced for McLaren, Force India, and Racing Point, and is now the teammate of two-time world champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

Sergio Perez believes he can beat Max Verstappen

Sergio Perez came to Red Bull from Racing Point in 2021 after gathering years of experience with the Silverstone-based team. The Mexican replaced Alex Albon and was immediately in contention for poles and podiums at Red Bull.

However, the dominating aura of Max Verstappen largely relegated the man from Mexico to the number two driver on the team. Much of that was because of Verstappen’s immense battle with Lewis Hamilton in 2021. After the Dutchman picked up his first-ever world title, Verstappen repeated his feat in 2022. Perez had to settle for P3 and the second position on the team.

However, the Guadalajara man believes he can beat his teammate in the game. Talking about this, he revealed to GP Racing Magazine, ”It’s not easy to beat him. But I’ve got to keep trying. I’ve got to keep improving. And I believe I can do it. I just have to make myself more comfortable. Like I was in the beginning of the year. And I’ve shown I can do it.”

The upcoming 2023 year will be the third year for Sergio Perez with Red Bull. If beating Max Verstappen doesn’t come into play, we believe snatching the place from Charles Leclerc will be the primary target for the Mexican. If achieved, it will be the first time Red Bull will finish in P1 and P2 in the driver’s championship.
