As a result, he promptly pulled out of the race weekend and the team roped in Nico Hulkenberg to start in his stead. Now, it seems that Perez has completed the mandatory self-quarantine period.
However, he is not completely out of the woods just yet because he needs to undergo a new test.

As per the FIA Code Of Conduct, Sergio Perez needs to turn in a verified negative test result for COVID-19. Once he is cleared of the virus, he will be allowed to enter the paddock.
Everything hinges on this test for Sergio Perez
Obviously, the Racing Point team can only make a decision on Perez once they get his results. So they confirmed that a decision will probably come latest by Friday morning.

“In line with the FIA Code Of Conduct, Sergio requires a verified negative test result for COVID-19 before he can enter the paddock. The testing process is taking place today.
“The team expects to make a decision on who is driving alongside Lance later today or first thing tomorrow morning,” reads a statement on Racing Point’s website.

If Sergio Perez gets the green light from the doctors, it will be business as usual. On the other end of the scale, Nico Hulkenberg will most likely be on standby with his fingers crossed in the event that his former teammate is rendered unfit to race.

Admittedly, poor old Nico Hulkenberg did not get a chance to race last weekend. The German driver was all set for a triumphant return to Formula One after losing his Renault seat.
Sadly, an issue with his Racing Point car meant that his race was over before it had even begun.

On one hand, Hulkenberg will be praying that his friend and former teammate recovers and is cleared to race. On the other end of the spectrum, he will be secretly hoping for a second chance to race and show F1 what he is made of.
