Abu Dhabi 2021 saw Max Verstappen battling with Lewis Hamilton on the last lap to win his maiden championship. But that was not the only eye-catching battle we saw during that race. Sergio Perez’s defending for his dear life against Mercedes spearhead was an equally breathtaking fight.

It would be unfair to say that Mexican GP was a repeat of that. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton looked in control in P2 for most of the race. There was a burst of sporadic attacks from the ‘Mexico’s Minister of Defense’. However, the home hero had to settle for P3 as the Silver arrows ace secured P2 behind Red Bull’s poster boy Max Verstappen.

Red Bull and Mercedes have locked horns ever since the German Giants won their first title in 2o14. This has led to Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton having a sort of rocky relationship with each other. The Abu Dhabi debacle was the start of that tension and Red Bull’s cost cap controversy has put fuel to the fire.

However, Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton have been able to ride the tide with utter grace. Their friendship has blossomed despite their teams’ fierce rivalry. We got to see another glimpse of the race at the end of a rather dull Mexican GP.

As the Silver Arrows ace held the mic to give his post-race interview, the crowd started to boo. This is something that did not go down well with the Mexican driver. He was seen wagging his finger at the Mexican crowd in the famous stadium section, telling them to stop booing the legend.
