When Justin Timberlake released his ‘what goes around comes around’ song back in 2006, little did the F1 community know that they can connect to the lines at some point. Well, they can indeed as Mercedes decided to surprise the fans, to surpass all expectations by returning to the all-black livery. As the unveiling stage has almost come to an end, Lewis Hamilton and Co. were the penultimate team to reveal their 2023 livery, and what a revelation it has been. The F1 community not only loved the return to black but also turned emotional as expectations were exceeded.

Mercedes decided to return to black after spending a year in silver livery. It is believed that the Silver Arrows made the change to save weight in the car. Since the F1 cars use quite a bit of carbon fiber, it made no sense to paint the car black, whereas they could be kept in raw carbon fiber, exposed.

As per Motorsport, Toto Wolff shared on this, “We were overweight last year. This year, we have tried to figure out where we can squeeze out every single gram. So now, history repeats itself. You will see that the car has some raw carbon bits, along with some that are painted matte black.”

Enthralled fans share their excitement on social media

As Mercedes was about to unveil their W14 in Brackley on February 15, fans on social media were eagerly waiting to share their response. Soon after the Mercedes car came to light, fans were quick enough to make their voices heard online. While most of the fans loved the car, they welcomed the return from silver to black.
