Toto Wolff has guided Mercedes to become one of the greatest teams in F1 history. Under his leadership, the German team has won 8 consecutive constructors World Championships since 2014. Because of this success, Wolff has etched his name in F1 history as one of the most successful team principals.

But it was not a rosy beginning for the Austrian in life. He has mentioned on many occasions that he had a tough childhood and did not grow up with the money. These years of struggle eventually took a toll on his mental health. And the Mercedes boss has revealed that he has been in therapy since 2004.
Mercedes have been open about supporting varied issues publicly over the years. They even changed their livery to showcase the support of having equality in the sport. So it is not surprising to see Wolff being so open about his mental health issues.

As reported by the.times.co.uk, the Mercedes team boss, mentioned it is important to break the stigma around mental health. He revealed he has done over 500 hours of therapy and it has helped him immensely.
“I’ve been going to a psychiatrist since 2004, I think I’ve had more than 500 hours [of therapy]. I have suffered mentally, I still do. Getting help is a way of overcoming my problems, and it has helped me to access untapped potential. I’ve never had any problem with the stigma. Some of the most successful people are very sensitive and very sensitive means very vulnerable,” said the Austrian.

“Without going into too much detail, feeling depressed, feeling inadequate. Everything depends upon how you perceive yourself. High-profile people who seem to have everything but are struggling, I think we have an obligation to say we’re getting help and it’s ok to get help. Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka deserve a lot of credit for how they’ve spoken about this,” said Wolff.
