We are all aware of the extremely humble beginnings that Lewis Hamilton had. However, it’s his nature during this journey to immeasurable success that has earned him the respect of his peers. A story Hamilton narrated after his second championship perfectly captures this down-to-earth nature.
Back in 2014, Lewis Hamilton won his second world championship title. This was a joyous occasion for the Brit, but more so for the Mercedes team and the boss, as it was their first world championship.

In an early morning interview with The Guardian the very next day after his title win, Hamilton sat down to reflect on his humble beginnings and how far he has come with his family.
“We talked about sitting in the back of the trailer with flasks of Knorr chicken noodle soup and sitting by the gas heater, shaking my dad’s hand before heading out on track. All the stages we went through,” said Hamilton.
From one-dollar Knorr soup and sitting next to the gas heater to seven world championships, Hamilton has remained the same.
However, on a completely different spectrum was the Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff. This was an equal opportunity to celebrate for Wolff, and he did exactly that. “Then I popped out to the party – and Toto [Wolff, Mercedes executive director] was all over the place at that point!” The Mercedes man revealed.
“I don’t know why it’s (the interview) so early, but Toto is definitely feeling it way more than I am,” he added.

Back in 2018, Hamilton won his fifth championship title in Mexico with two races to go. The fifth championship title made Hamilton the joint second-most successful driver in F1’s history. Despite all the excitement, Hamilton had very subtle plans to celebrate the achievement.
