As Toto Wolff and Valtteri Bottas shared the couch for one last video for Mercedes, the two looked back on a five-year journey; one filled with ups and downs. However, it were the moments of elation that helped define years gone by. However, as Bottas contributed significantly to Mercedes’ silverware, someone may have forgotten to keep count.

Both Bottas and Wolff lost count of how many podiums the Finn has stood on representing the Brackley outfit. While the number they were looking for was 58, Toto Wolff asked, “Where are all these trophies?” To this, Bottas dramatically replied, “I can’t tell you, or the people.”

Wolff was quick with his comeback. “I’m sure of your secret place. I think you sold them on eBay.” Bottas reveals that 20 of his trophies are in Brackley, which still leaves a good 38 trophies. “I think they got lost,” the Finn said with a laugh.

Suspiciously, Wolff tells his driver to keep an eye on eBay. “Lost Valtteri Bottas podium trophies.” Surely, Mercedes doesn’t need the money from pawning off Bottas’ trophies! WOlff must have them hidden in his office for the memories.

Bottas truly has had a glorious career with the Silver Arrows. Right from the first time he sat in the silver tub, Bottas has been impeccable. It’s been a long journey for him; from the W07 to the W12- while the cars changed, the driver inside remained constant.

Bottas’ first season kicked off with an early pole position and win quickly following it. Looking back at his first win in Russia, Bottas said, “when I remember my first win at any moment, it feels like yesterday.” Further, it’s not often that you end your debut year with donuts and a constructor’s championship in hand.

Yet, he ended his career with the team, once again holding the championship trophy high. In a year where Red Bull presented a potent threat to the Silver Arrows, Bottas’ contributions to the team have been immense.

Thus, as the team gives away their trusty Finn to Alfa Romeo, it’s a bittersweet moment; the years gone by only stand as a testament to the astounding driver Valtteri Bottas has been in a Mercedes monocoque.
