“I think we are just making our life way too difficult.” Many fans, especially F1 specialists, were in complete shock when Charles Leclerc said these words following his Q2 elimination from the Canadian GP. However, the Ferrari is still frequently lambasted for letting Leclerc trash them. Although the squad does occasionally allow him the chance to criticize them for their odd strategic decisions, sometimes the criticism becomes too much. And this is exactly what one F1 veteran has outlined.

Charles Leclerc’s outstanding performance, while driving alongside Sebastian Vettel in the same machinery soared the expectations from the Monegasque driver to break Ferrari’s championship drought rose dramatically. But throughout his time with Ferrari, the team was unable to give him a competitive vehicle that may have led to a world championship.

Combining this incompetence with the terrible strategic decisions made under Mattia Binotto and now under Frederic Vasseur, the 25-year-old remains deeply frustrated, leading him to occasionally criticize the team over the radio, as he did at the Canadian Grand Prix, where the Monegasque even said, In those situations, “I had a clear opinion. And yeah, we decided to do something else. So, I am frustrated. We have to be better than that. And we cannot afford to do those mistakes again.” After Leclerc didn’t record a time fast enough to advance to the Q3  and believed switching to slick tires too late was a mistake.

Comments like this have led to criticism of Leclerc, as one F1 veteran is still in absolute disbelief of the Monegasque’s haughty demeanor. As per F1 Maximaal Juan Pablo Montoya said, “Charles (Leclerc) is also doing very well. He’s really fast, but I’m surprised Leclerc gets away with his harsh statements.” Pablo hinted towards Leclerc’s bratty attitude on the radio calls.

While questioning Ferrari’s tolerance to it, the Colombian driver said, “He speaks his mind everywhere and he gets angry about a lot of things. It’s nice that he shows so much passion, but I’m surprised Ferrari thinks that’s okay.”

Charles Leclerc might occasionally experience the added strain of driving a Ferrari, and while experts continued to be in shock by his bratty demeanor, the Monaco driver reveals the true cause behind his venomous radio rants.

What did Charles Leclerc say about his radio rants?

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc were vying for the championship last year, but a series of unfortunate incidents for Ferrari led Red Bull to win the championship. Fast forward to now, while Leclerc remains at bay with the title, the Ferrari, with their weird strategic calls, is only making it difficult for the 25-year-old to survive.

With tire degradation and pace issues already plaguing the team, a further error at the Silverstone, when Leclerc got pitted early, will remain as one of the “backfoot” calls for the remainder of the season. Despite all of that while justifying the radio rants, the Ferrari driver believes that the two-way Frank communication helps keep the team and driver sides honest in the event of errors.

While speaking with the Guardian Leclerc said, “We disagree sometimes as we are very honest with one another. I say to the team what I think and the team say what they think. This is the way to move forward. I don’t think the trust has ever been an issue. We have a very different vision inside the car than what the team has on the pit wall, so these things can happen.”
