A seemingly genuine comment about Red Bull’s superiority by George Russell has a topic of much debate. We are all aware that RB19 is a class apart from the rest of the challenges on the grid. Max Verstappen showcased that in the Australian GP with his overtake on Lewis Hamilton. The overtake instantly put Verstappen a second ahead of Hamilton, a lifetime in the world of F1. The resulting comment from a heartbreaking Russell has not only become a topic of debate but also earned him a lot of criticism. However, one of the resulting replies to Russell’s comment from Red Bull’s top honcho earned him an interesting comparison.

This tight-lipped nature of Horner compared to his compatriots at Mercedes earned him praise from the hosts of the Red Flags podcast.

The host began, “And what I do love is that Christian then just fu*king eathered him. See, they come with the 10,000-word essay and Christian comes with a tweet. Christian knows how to speak in tweet.”

This brevity of words from the Red Bull boss made the host draw comparisons with an American with the same attributes. “Christian is the Donald Trump of F1, I think.”

Christian Horner reminds Russell of the dominance Lewis Hamilton enjoyed in the sport

The kind of dominance Red Bull enjoyed in the previous campaign and is continuing to do so in the current season was a norm at Mercedes. The Silver Arrows were head and shoulders above the competition in the hybrid era which started in 2014 until the 2022 regulations slowed their roll. The young Mercedes man has seemingly forgotten the team’s past.

So when asked by the media for a reply to Russell‘s comments, Horner reminded the young Brit of the team’s past. “That’s very generous of him,” Horner said. “He’d know too well from his team about those kinds of advantages.”

Shut down the entire debate with just one comment. We’d expect nothing less from the outspoken and epigrammatic Trump of F1.

Russell eventually backtracked on his comments about Red Bull’s dominance. We are not hinting, Horner’s shrewd comment invoked that, but there’s a good possibility. Because how does one come back from that?
