The Hidden Reason Why Red Bull is Shutting the Doors on Porsche’s F1 Dream: “Horner Fears…”

Imagine you’ve just bought a copy of F1 Manager 2022. You’ve poured your heart, sweat, and tears into getting a midfield team all the way to WDC and WCC domination. Now imagine you lose all that progress by no fault of your own. How would you feel?

Well, Christian Horner is probably on the cusp of finding this out.

Porsche has been rumored to buy their way in the Milton Keynes-based outfit. According to reports, the German automobile giants propose to purchase a 50% stake in Red Bull Racing. However, as enticing the news maybe for Formula 1 fans, Red Bull boss Christian Horner is not that chuffed.

Who comes in to replace him, you might ask? Well, it would seem that Andreas Seidl maybe in the works to become the new Red Bull boss. This comes in light of his prior association with the Hybrid Porsche LMP1 program.

It may seem that Horner feels threatened by the whole prospect. However, recently, he has come out with a strong statement of intent that shows even if Porsche tries to strong-arm the team, he would probably have none of it.

Amongst this whole rigmarole, Horner has come out with a staunch warning for Porsche. On paper, the terms of the agreement between the two entities would prescribe a 50-50 partnership. However, Horner is adamant that Porsche would have to abide by the present team’s terms and not the other way around.

He then went on to explain his stance on the potential Porsche partnership, They [potential team partners] need to decide whether they want to join that party or not. But it would have to be within the culture of the way we go racing.”

He also quickly shut down any Porsche-powered Red Bull rumors, “we’ve committed to the investment within Red Bull Powertrains.”
