Daniel Ricciardo is quite easily the joker of Formula 1. His witty humor and the ability to make people laugh are rare to watch in a sophisticated and serious sport like F1. He might not drive a Formula 1 car next season, but he will still entertain F1 fans after he snapped up the reserve driver role at Red Bull.

The Honey Badger has given us several hilarious moments in F1. Be it his teammates or drivers from other teams, his cheerful and welcoming nature leaves everyone with a lasting impact. In one such instance, the Australian mercilessly trolled his ex-teammate Daniil Kvyat at the British GP press conference in 2017.

The reporter questioned Kvyat if he went to Sebastian Vettel’s birthday party, to which Kvyat replied, “I was hoping you forgot about me already. But I don’t have an answer for you, I cannot even imagine.”

Daniel then said, “There was an invite for the Torpedo. I saw it”.

Lewis Hamilton then asked the Aussie what the ‘Torpedo’ meant. To which Ricciardo answered, “It’s what Seb called him in China last year”. Daniil took the banter in good spirits and complimented Ricciardo that he had a good memory.

Kvyat pulled an ambitious move that resulted in Seb hitting his then-teammate Kimi Raikkonen at the 2016 Chinese GP. This led to Vettel telling the Russian driver, “You are like a torpedo”.

Ultimately, both the drivers stood on the podium as Nico Rosberg won the race.

As a guest on ‘In The Fast Lane’ podcast, Ricciardo explained, “It’s really the one word that got me into this, it’s competition, you know, and yes, I love the speed of F1 and all the other stuff that comes with it, but ultimately, why I race is because I love competing.”

He further added, “And even when I was a kid, before I was racing anything I was competing in other things and I would throw tantrums if I would lose.”

Having competed all his life, Ricciardo would find it hard to adjust to life without F1. The Australian driver also revealed that he would look for alternatives to keep his adrenaline rush flowing until he finds a racing seat in Formula 1.
