The 2021 F1 season is less than two months away. Fans are hopeful that the new season will bring about a change in the championship order and that finally perhaps Mercedes’ domination over the F1 grid will end.
However, for those who seem to think so, Eddie Jordan’s statements are bound to bring them back to reality. The former Jordan Grand Prix boss, who recently stated that he wasn’t interested in returning to F1, believes Mercedes’ sheer superiority in every department will guarantee them further success.
He said, “The sport is in a difficult situation because no-one can put their finger on Mercedes. They do it better than anybody else.

“Racing Point won a race last year, that was amazing from Sergio Perez, and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the last race but that shouldn’t confuse people into thinking it will be much more open.”
The Silver Arrows still remarkably haven’t finalized their drivers’ lineup. However, with the machine at their disposal, it wouldn’t matter if it’s Lewis Hamilton or anyone else driving for them. An eight Constructors’ Championship title is practically guaranteed.

Eddie’s words hold a lot of truth. Apart from the points he mentioned, it’s worth remembering that car development is virtually frozen for this year. This means teams won’t have any shot of outdoing last year’s W11 car that bossed the grid.
Once a deal with Hamilton comes through, the Silver Arrows would become virtually untouchable.
