Red Bull secured their fifth 1-2 of the season in Honda’s backyard at Suzuka. It was one of the races which was full of uncertainties and controversies. With the rain pouring down just minutes before the start of the race, the chances of completing all the laps within the stipulated time looked grim. Carlos Sainz’s crash in Lap 1 brought out the red flag, making matters worse.

The standing water on the track was proving to be the biggest hurdle in getting the race restarted. Fortunately, the race did go underway after a delay of more than two hours. There was little intrigue regarding who will win the race after Max Verstappen built a healthy lead over Charles Leclerc.

The Flying Dutchman cruised to win the Japanese GP, which lasted for just 28 laps. It was expected that Max Verstappen would be awarded half the points. To everyone’s surprise, Max was adjudged the winner of the championship during his post-race interview.

This decision was taken after Charles Leclerc’s penalty, allied with FIA’s call to give away full 25 points to Max, leading to confusion in the Red Bull camp.

Max Verstappen was heard talking to Sergio Perez about the chaos after the race. Max said, “I think, they f**ked up. I think it’s still one point I need.”

To which Checo replied, “It’s for the best, man. You should win again, not here. It’s a better party in Austin.”

Despite what’s been happening off the track, both Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen have stuck to the task at hand and produced amazing results. Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen would want to seal the constructor’s title quickly as well.

Talking about Checo’s performance and Constructor’s title, Christian Horner said, “I think Checo’s had an incredible year. He should be second in the championship [and] that’s going to be the target to keep him there.”

“And of course, one of the big goals for us is to bring that constructors’ championship home after eight long years,” Horner added.
