“They’ll Pick a Single Line and Twist It”: Lewis Hamilton Hits out at Fake News

Even for a team like Mercedes, that operates on a different level, there’s bound to be disagreements within the team. Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton opened up on how he handles disputes with Toto Wolff. The Briton also revealed how he deals with inaccurate news reports and rumors which have no basis. Hamilton had strong words for media outlets that sensationalize statements.
How Wolff and Hamilton handle disagreements
In an interview conducted with Sky Sports before the Coronavirus crisis, Hamilton and Wolff acknowledged that they do fall out. Hamilton revealed that they (Wolff and Lewis) stay transparent with each other to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Wolff also agreed and disclosed that it was normal to have disagreements from time to time.

“I think it’s only natural that we have disagreements, we’ve never really had like a bust-up or anything”

Lewis Hamilton lashes out at false reports
The six-times World Champion also hit out at media outlets for sensationalizing news and playing on rumors. Hamilton recently lashed out at a website for reporting false stories linking the Briton with a Ferrari seat.

“We’re constantly both being interviewed and there’ll be times that Toto’s being interviewed by I don’t know and vice versa”
“And sometimes months down the line they’ll pick a single line or word and they’ll twist it, the “pundits” I Guess”
“Then you’ll see something on the news and you’ll be like hold on a second, I didn’t say that!”

“We’ve learned over time because I think in the past perhaps, we would see something and it would frustrate you”
Hamilton revealed that he clears up any misunderstandings with Wolff as soon as possible rather than dwelling on it over a long period of time.
