Dorilton Capital, headquartered in the United States, is a private investment firm that Williams have crowned as their new owners.

Having recently signed the new Concorde Agreement, keeping the team in the sport for another 5 years at least, this news comes as another shot in the arm for the historic F1 team.

Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams said, “The strategic review was a useful process to go through. (It) proved that both Formula One and Williams have credibility and value.

“We have now reached a conclusion and we are delighted that Dorilton are the new owners of the team. We are enormously grateful to Dorilton for the faith they have shown in our team and we look forward to working with them now.”

Will this mean a change of identity for the iconic Williams F1 team?

Thankfully, the answer to that question is a firm no. Williams have confirmed that they will continue to race under the same name. Their chassis too will need no rebranding, continuing to be named with the initials of founder Frank Williams.

Additionally, they have confirmed that the new owners don’t intend to relocate to a new facility. As a result, the team will function out of Grove as usual.

On-track, points notwithstanding, Williams have already made significant progress after a difficult few years. That fact, coupled with the new ownership deal signifies a huge step made in the right direction, plotting a comeback to the very top of the Formula 1 world.
