Lewis Hamilton’s recent feud with former world champion Nelson Piquet has taken another twist. The Brazilian was accused of using racial slurs against the Briton in a previous interview. Interestingly, Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has come out and made some bold claims about Hamilton.

Marko suggested that Hamilton and his team intentionally dug up the comments made by the Brazilian. He went on to say,  “I don’t want to defend Piquet, but if you translate the Portuguese correctly, what he said isn’t nearly as blatant.”

He further added, “But we know Piquet: even when he was active, he kept making ill-considered statements. The only odd thing is that this interview from last November surfaced a few days before the [British] GP. Apparently, they wanted the previous year’s crash not to be boiled up again. This timing is no coincidence.”

Piquet’s comments have been condemned by the community and the Brazilian has been banned from the paddock for the foreseeable future.

He also went after Perez in the aftermath of his first lap tangle with George Russell in Austria. Marko said, “We said before the start ‘Don’t try the outside in this corner, it’s not possible. It was simply not necessary. We have seen this before. It doesn’t work…”
