Among the very few championships that come near to F1 in terms of technology and drivers’ skills, is IndyCar. The series is the home ground of the biggest racing enthusiasts with upcoming superstars and the superstars of yesteryear slugging it out. American rapper and hip-hop artist 50 Cent recently caught motorheads by surprise when he gave a shout-out to former F1 driver and current defending Indy 500 champion Marcus Ericsson. The duo posed for the camera, but a bizarre perspective left fans in splits rather than adoring them.

Marcus raced in F1 for 5 years between 2014 and 2018. In 2019, he lost his Alfa Romeo seat to Antonio Giovinazzi. However, the Swede did not lose heart and joined the IndyCar series and has never looked back since. Last year, Max Verstappen expressed his reservations against racing in IndyCar, flagging the apparent lack of safety precautions. Ericsson then came out to defend the Series, highlighting how much they had made progress in terms of drivers’ safety in the last few years.

Marcus Ericsson leaves fans confused with a simple pose alongside 50 Cent

50 Cent recently posted a picture of him on Instagram with Marcus and wished with all the best. Both dressed in all-black, 50 put his arm around Ericsson’s shoulder while the Indy 500 champion held up a pumped-up fist.

In the post’s caption, 50 wrote, “defending indy 500 champ @Ericsson_marcus let’s go we gonna do it again. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi”

At first instance, it looked like Marcus, instead of showing a pumped-up fist, was holding 50 Cent’s hand that was around his shoulder. The bizarrely comical situation left fans in splits. What was even more bizarre was that some mistook Marcus for Ellen DeGeneres for a moment.
