Charles gave his race outfit, boots, and gloves in addition to his special edition helmet from the Monaco GP in RM Sotheby’s auction. The amount from this auction will be benefiting the relief work in the flood-affected Emilia Romagna region. The helmet that the Ferrari driver sported during the Monaco Grand Prix last month sold for an astounding sum. Not just his helmet, but also the other equipment, fetched a high price. With this, the overall sum amounts to a staggering $429,000.

Leclerc has a special bond with the Bell HP 77 Helmet since his late father served as the inspiration for it. According to BBC, the price of $329,000 broke the previous world record of $174,475 that was set in 2019, held by the legendary Ayrton Senna. This is now the highest price for racing headgear. Senna’s helmet was from 1990 when he won his 2nd championship.

The people suffering as a result of the devastating flood will get the funds raised by the auction. More than 20,000 individuals were displaced by this natural tragedy, which cost numerous lives. The Emilia Romagna GP was ultimately postponed due to the disaster.

When explaining about the unique helmet, the Monegasque brothers were spotted with at the Monaco Grand Prix, Arthur Leclerc remarked, “I took the design because my father was in motorsports and had the design on his helmets, so it’s kind of a thank you and tribute to him. We took the same design, changed a few of the colors, and along with my brother, we’ve done a special design for this weekend.”

While talking of Charles Leclerc’s helmet he added, “The colors Charles ran a few years ago, those were the colors of the actual helmet he used. For this one, I’ve used the colors of Monaco so we haven’t taken the exact same color, but the design is the same and it’s a nice tribute to him.”
