Romain Grosjean had an unexpected end to his F1 career when he crashed in Bahrain GP 2020. The French driver could really recover from the injuries that he sustained in his fiery crash. But Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff promised the then Haas driver a test in the Mercedes F1 car.

The test was supposed to take place in the 2021 season, but it did not go through. But rest assured, Wolff has promised that the test with Romain will happen this year.

The French driver revealed that he did text the Mercedes boss at the end of the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP about the test. He mentioned that Toto assured him that the test will definitely happen in 2022.

Toto Wolff provides an update on Romain Grosjean’s test

The Austrian revealed that the former F1 driver will definitely get his shot at driving the Mercedes F1 car. Although it is yet not clear where and when will the test take place as Grosjean is busy with IndyCar and Wolff with F1.

“The test is going to happen for sure. We are committed to it. We don’t have a date yet, for what Romain can do and what we can do, but it will happen. When I give my word, I give my word,” said the Mercedes team boss.

There was a window for the test at the 2022 French Grand Prix, but Grosjean will be busy with his IndyCar duties. But it is nice to see that the Mercedes team boss is committed to giving a test to Romain in a Mercedes, as he promised earlier.

It would really be fascinating to see if the French driver would have the same skills behind the wheel after some time away from the sport. He is definitely very keen to drive the fastest F1 car ever in F1 and test his mettle.

Hopefully, the two parties can sort out a common and preferable time to schedule the test. And also manage to involve the fans during the event as everyone is keenly waiting to see Grosjean behind a Mercedes.
