The Bahrain Grand Prix outing was a frustrating one for the Silver Arrows. Not only did they lag behind Red Bull and Ferrari, Aston Martin finished ahead of both the Mercedes in the main race. While Lewis Hamilton was patient and charitable enough last year the man who is nearing the end of his career called the team out but as it stands the team boss has stepped in to assert the importance of Hamilton for the team and they intend to continue their iconic partnership.

While the new norm for Mercedes is losing because of their own constructional disaster, it wasn’t too long ago that the team was the most dominant team ever. For the uninitiated, the team was an eight-time champion but has somehow forgotten to make a car post the imposition of new 2022 regulations. A frustrated Lewis Hamilton was seen blasting the team for not listening to him. However, after a harsh reality check, Toto Wolff has taken upon it himself to restore normalcy.

As quoted by Motorsports, Wolff said, “Lewis’ situation is the one you’ve heard on the radio. He’s an integral part of the team, lifting the team up and we’re all united and I don’t think that’s going to change just because we got off to a really bad start,”

“We have won eight constructors’ and six drivers’ championships with him and that relationship continues.”

And the CEO even brushed away the possibility of losing the 7x champion. He said, “As much as we are transparent about how we have to turn the car around, this is not the time to talk about the situation of the driver in 2024.”

Lewis Hamilton loses patience and asks Mercedes to take responsibility

When Hamilton was seen suffering more than his teammate George Russell last year, it was revealed the champion was collecting data for the betterment of the car. Hamilton sacrificed more than half of his 2022 campaign to give valuable feedback to the team. However, seeing that he wasn’t listened to he couldn’t hide his disappointment.

As quoted by BBC 5 Live, he said, “Last year, there were things that I told them, I said the problems with the car. I’ve driven a lot of cars in my life, so I know what a car needs and what it doesn’t need. And I think it’s about responsibility.”

He further added, “It’s about taking it on and saying, ‘Yeah, you know what? We’re not listening to you. It’s not where it needs to be and we’ve got to work. We’ve got to look into the balance through the corners, look at all the weak points, and just huddle up as a team. That’s what we do.”
