The dust of  Lewis Hamilton uprooting himself from Mercedes to be a part of Ferrari has not yet settled. It has been over a month and a half and the entire community is still talking about what will happen in 2025. Currently, the 7-time world champion is in his farewell season with Mercedes, and so far, Hamilton is not performing quite well.

Toto Wolff feels betrayed by Lewis Hamilton as the two had an understanding saying that neither of the parties would act behind the other’s back. After Mercedes rejected Hamilton’s demands, the Briton decided to talk to John Elkann. However, now that a while has passed, the two have come to terms with what will happen next year and the Mercedes Team boss has opened up about his star driver leaving.

Toto Wolff finally understands Lewis Hamilton’s decision

After over a month of avoiding the question, Toto Wolff has opened up about the Hamilton-Ferrari switch. Although there have been a few instances where he shared what he thinks of the transfer, this time his reply has been rather supportive. ‘True Driver’ is a show on the DAZN platform that showcases the BTS of the Formula One community. From controversies to races to interviews, the show covers it all. This included a recent interview with Toto Wolff which was reported by Marca.

In the first episode of the show called ‘The Signing of the Century’, the show discussed the Hamilton-Ferrari transfer. Toto Wolff came forth and said, “I understand the arguments perfectly. He needs a new challenge, he was looking for a change of scenery and, probably, it is the last opportunity to do so.” Wolff explained how Lewis Hamilton is at the end of his career and for him to make a move like this, there might not be time in the future.

Furthermore, revealing the reason he left, Hamilton said, “An opportunity arose and I didn’t let it slip away. All of us drivers sat in the garage and wondered what it would be like to drive the red car.” Lewis Hamilton is currently fighting for the team whose uniform he bares, and although he is moving to Ferrari next year, he is focusing on pushing Mercedes to rank 2.
