Toto Wolff has been the Team Principal of Mercedes since the beginning of the 2014 season. In his time at the German team, they have won every single constructors’ and drivers’ title available. And they may still end up winning 2021 titles as well as they are ahead at the halfway stage.

Despite his success at Mercedes, there have been several reports suggesting that Wolff may end up leaving the team. The Austrian mentioned that he may leave the role of team principal spontaneously.

As reported by GPfans, The Austrian has mentioned that he still cares deeply about the sport and plans to stay for a while. He also stated that whatever he pursues further, he will always be a co-owner of the team.

“As long as I enjoy the competition and honesty of the stopwatch, I will continue,” said Wolff.

But the decision was not that am I willing to continue to lead this team from an operational standpoint but it was more, do I want to stay involved as a shareholder. This means the team becomes me and I become the team long-term and this is the decision I took.

“We are three equal shareholders, we complement each other, and whatever I do in the team, I’m staying in my role as a co-owner.” said Wolff.

Wolff, Ineos, and Daimler all became equal shareholders last year and own 33% of the Mercedes AMG-Team.
