Adrian Newey recently signed a contract extension with Red Bull. Prior to signing the extension, there were rumors of the Red Bull CTO moving ships or retiring from the sport altogether. However, it was recently revealed that Mercedes did try to poach Adrian Newey from Red Bull. An F1 insider suggests that a former Red Bull employee who now works as Toto Wolff’s personal assistant contacted Adrian Newey with the proposal. 

Helmut Marko is a taskmaster and wants to take control of everything happening at Red Bull. The taskmaster took a dig at Mercedes as they attempted to hijack Adrian Newey. According to F1Insider.com, Helmut Marko said, “Mr. Wolff may not seem to have complete confidence to have his own people fix the problems with their car.”
