Tributes Pour in as Popular Ex-F1 Driver Calls Time on His Racing Career

Sky Sports Pundit and former F1 driver Anthony Davidson has called time on his racing career. Davidson, who was racing in Le Mans and World Endurance Championship with Toyota, took to social media to announce his decision.

Anthony had recently driven the 2020 Mercedes AMG F1 championship-winning car. He also finished P3 in a race in Bahrain with teammates Felix Dacosta and Roberto Gonzales. Fellow F1 Journalist Will Buxton also took to social media to wish the Brit on his retirement. Buxton praised Davidson in his post.

It’s been an incredible and unforgettable journey: Former F1 driver

As reported by Autosport, the Sky Sports pundit, who is known for his precise analysis, stated that when he signed a three-year contract with Toyota, he knew it was time.

“One more to go… which I’ve decided will also be my final race as a professional racing driver. It’s been an incredible and unforgettable journey and I thank all those involved along the way.” wrote the 2014 WEC title winner.

“When I signed that contract, I saw it as three more years of trying to win Le Mans with Toyota. I definitely toyed with the idea of just stopping at that point.” said the Brit.

Anthony mentioned his experience of driving with his teammate, Roberto Gonzalez. “Driving with Roberto as a gentleman driver, it’s much more fun than racing for a manufacturer with all the pressure that comes with that.

In a way, I needed to fall in love with racing again because I had completely lost the love for it at Toyota.” said Davidson

Anthony Davidson would continue to be a pundit with the Sky Sports team in Formula One after his racing career. We wish him all the best in his post-racing career.
