Lewis Hamilton Seeking Important “Answers” to Sign a New Contract With Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton could clinch his 7th world title this weekend at the Turkish Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Mercedes have already secured their 7th consecutive Constructors’ Championship title. However, Hamilton’s contract comes to an end later this year.

Mercedes and Hamilton have dominated the entirety of the hybrid era. Mercedes would want to continue their relationship with Hamilton to make sure that they make the most out of this relationship.

At the same time, Hamilton will be looking forward to driving his W11 to a record-breaking 8th Drivers’ Championship title next season.

The concerned parties have often hinted at their desire to continue working together in the past. However, it is reported that Lewis Hamilton is unsure about what he wants from the new contract.

What does Lewis Hamilton want?

At the end of Imola GP, the current champion hinted that he might not come back to Formula 1 next season. However, Hamilton clarified that he wants to stay in Formula 1 and continue driving for Mercedes. Although the Briton is uncertain on the duration and terms of his contract.

Lewis said, “I haven’t got all the answers to what I want to do yet. The foundation of the contract that I have, I believe is the best contract that there is in terms of how it’s structured, in terms of time management, the team that’s put around me.”

According to the reports, Hamilton wants to look forward to his responsibilities beyond 2020 at a potential retirement plan. Hamilton further added that there is a lot to discuss and a lot to go through.

He said, “I’d like to help them in terms of pushing for diversity because within the organisation as with every organisation out there, there’s not enough of it. That’s pushing taking their cars green, and electric, I want to help them on that road.”

Hamilton assured, “I love racing. I love the challenge. And I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon.” We can be certain that we will see him back with Mercedes. The only question pertains to the term of his next contract.

Meanwhile, Hamilton will focus on winning the race and the championship this season at the Turkish GP.
