After the mind-blowing season-opener in Bahrain, now it’s time for the F1 2022 calendar to move on to the second race in Jeddah. This time around, the 2022 calendar has the record 23 races, the most in F1 history. But it seems F1 wants to increase the numbers more in the future.

There were speculations around countries like China and Africa joining the F1 calendar for the past few years. The F1 president Stefano Domenicali revealed Las Vegas and Africa would hold races in the future. Domenicali has said, “There is a lot of interest there. For sure that’s another area that so far is missing in the geography of our calendar.”

But the addition of the new circuits isn’t the only big news the F1 president had. The current F1 agreement allows only 24 races in a season, but Domenicali is eyeing 30 races a season. If there are 30 races in the future, then these new circuits can serve as the venue for those new races.

F1 president reported to SkySports, “I think there is potential to go to 24. I would say there is potential to go to 30! In terms of the interest, we see all around the world.”

According to Domenicali, some of the current races might lose their places in the F1 calendar in the future because of expiring contracts. Domenicali said, “There are some promoters who have expiring agreements, and probably some of the current Grand Prix will no longer be part of the calendar.

Fans react to the future updates of the F1 calendar

As soon as this news about new circuits joining the grid and a 30-race long season dropped on Twitter, fans were thrilled and curious about these plans. Needless to say, fans were shocked about a 30-race long season. Many fans are against the idea cause they believe it would be exhausting for the teams and drivers to race in so many Grand Prix a season. And although fans are skeptical about the 30-races, they are very supportive of Africa hosting Formula One races in the future.

All Formula 1 teams are currently fearing up for the upcoming race in Jeddah, which became part of the F1 calendar last season. Let’s look forwards to F1’s plan on the 30-races. it would be fascinating to see whether it would be a blessing or a curse for this motorsport.
